All About Fire Damage Repairs In Your Home

Posted on

If you have had a fire in your home, then you are going to want to have the fire damages repaired as soon as possible. Whether much of your home was damaged, or a smaller section was damaged, fast fire damage repairs are important for many reasons. Here are some of the reasons why you want to have fire damage repairs done right away:

Water will be removed

First, the water left behind by the firefighters will need to be taken care of. Water will be removed from your home promptly, to avoid any further water damage from happening due to further exposure to the water. Once the home has been dried, then it will be ready for the next step which will bring you closer to being able to move back into your home.

Remove damaged items

Damaged items that can't be restored to their pre-fire state will be removed and disposed of. This clears out your home of things that would no longer be healthy for you to have in the home.

Repairing the structure

The structure will be repaired as needed. This will ensure that you will have a home that is structurally sound for you and your family to move back into. Along with the framing that may have been damaged, the drywall, insulation, paint, roof, attic, ceiling, and other areas of the structure that makes it complete will all be repaired.

Repairing the electrical system

The electrical system will be required, new outlets and switches will be installed, and even the fuse box will be replaced as needed. Once your home's repairs are completed, you can expect to move into a fully functioning and safe home.

Replacement of the flooring

All of the affected flooring will be removed and replaced with new flooring. Even flooring that wasn't damaged by the fire but that suffers from smoke damage will be removed from the house and replaced with new flooring. This is due to the fact that the smoke damage won't be able to be fully removed from the flooring.

Replacement of cabinets and countertops

Cabinets and countertops will be replaced with new ones. This will be done in all affected areas including the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and anywhere else where they have been damaged by the fire, smoke, or water.

Conclusion

Once your home has been completely repaired, then you can move back in. You don't want to stay in a home that hasn't been professionally repaired because there will be many risks including exposure to dangerous things like asbestos or mold.
